Before you enroll

No prior real estate experience is required. To qualify for a Texas real estate license, you must be at least 18 years old and have a U.S. Social Security number. A high school diploma is not required by TREC, though it is strongly recommended. You can start classes before you meet all licensing requirements; most students enroll and get started right away.

What to expect in class

It depends on which sessions you attend. Daytime students (Mon–Thu, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM) can complete all six courses in approximately 6 weeks taken consecutively. Evening students (Mon–Thu, 6:00–10:00 PM) should plan for approximately 12 weeks. You can also spread courses out at your own pace; there's no deadline.

Tuition and financing

Tuition is $203.50 per course, plus a $46.50 textbook, tax included. Principles I and II share one textbook, so all six courses total $1,453.50. There are separate costs after completing your courses: the TREC application fee, fingerprinting, and the Pearson VUE exam fee, which are paid directly to those agencies, not to us.

The licensing process

Once you've passed the final exam for each course, you'll receive TREC-approved certificates. Submit those plus your application to TREC's REALM portal, complete fingerprinting, and, once TREC approves, you'll be eligible to sit for the state licensing exam through Pearson VUE. See Steps to Get Licensed for the full walkthrough.
