Criminal history evaluation
The Texas Real Estate Commission requires all education providers to notify students of their right to request a criminal history evaluation prior to enrolling in courses or applying for a real estate license.
Notice to students regarding criminal history
A criminal history may make an applicant ineligible for the real estate license they seek. If you have a criminal history, unpaid judgments, disciplinary history on a professional license, or have performed unlicensed activity, you may want to request a criminal history evaluation before enrolling in courses.
You may request a criminal history evaluation by submitting a completed Fitness Determination Form to TREC prior to applying for a license. The fee is $54 paid electronically. Forms must be submitted via the REALM portal.
For more information, refer to Texas Occupations Code §53.025 and TREC Rule 541.1, or visit the Fitness Determination page at trec.texas.gov.
